The AgMIP Coordination Unit is excited to announce that AgMIP10 will take place March 31-April 4, 2025 at CIMMYT in Mexico! In the past, AgMIP has hosted the international modeling community at nine Global Workshops in four different countries – including at FAO in Rome, Italy, Columbia University in New York City, the University of Florida in Gainesville, Le Corum in Montpellier, France, the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture in San Jose, Costa Rica, and a virtual webshop in 2020. AgMIP10 will take place at CIMMYT headquarters located in Texcoco, Mexico!

Campus Services

  • Meals are served at the comedor at the following times:

    Monday to Friday:

    Breakfast: 07:00 – 09:30 am
    Lunch: 12:00 – 2:30 pm
    Dinner: 06:30 – 8:30 p.m.

    Saturday and Sunday:

    Breakfast: 08:00 – 9:30 am
    Lunch: 12:00 – 2:30 pm

  • Monday to Friday

    Breakfast: 7:30 to 11:00 am

    Lunch: 12:00 to 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm

    Vending machines are located on the first floor of the Maya building, in the Administrative Building, and at the comedor entrance. Only cash (Mexican pesos).

  • Check-out time is 12:00 pm. Any check-out after 3:00 pm may incur an additional night charge. Please return your access card to the Maya reception upon check-out.
    Late check-outs are subject to availability. Any check-outs after 3.00 pm will incur an additional night charge.

    Failure to return the card will result in a $2.00 charge.

  • This service incurs a cost depending on the quantity and type of garments to be laundered. If you require this service, please fill out the laundry form and place your clothes in the plastic bag provided in your room. Housekeeping will collect them at 10:00 am and return them at 5:00 pm on the same day.

    Alternatively, self-service laundry is available at no cost, but you must provide your own detergent and/or softener. If you require assistance with this service, please contact the concierge team.
    *Laundry service is free for guests staying at the Guest House.

  • Our cleaning staff ensures that rooms are cleaned daily. For student accommodation, cleaning is provided twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays during the day.

Sports and Recreational Areas

  • Opening hours: Monday to Sunday from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm.

    The gym does not have a personal trainer. Users are responsible for their own safety and for following the gym equipment usage instructions. Users must be aware of their physical limitations. Before engaging in any exercise routine, users are advised to consult with a professional and their personal physician.

    Entry is not permitted for children under 12 years old. Teenagers between 12 and 17 years old must be accompanied by a parent. Priority will be given to adults for gym usage.

    Lockers are for daily use. Users must bring their own padlock and vacate them by 9:00 pm each day. Backpacks are not allowed in the exercise areas.

    Proper sports attire and footwear are mandatory.

    Access is allowed only with water and/or hydrating beverages. Entry with food, alcoholic beverages, or chewing gum is not permitted.

    Smoking is not allowed.

  • Opening hours: Monday to Sunday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.

    The pool does not have lifeguard personnel. Users who use the pool are responsible for their own safety.

    Altering safety signs or playing with pool safety and/or cleaning equipment is strictly prohibited.

    Children under 12 years old, and anyone requiring special attention, must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Access doors to the pool must always remain closed to prevent young children from entering alone.

    Facilities for bathing and changing are available. Changing clothes inside or near the pool is prohibited. Swimming in street clothes is not allowed; proper swimwear is mandatory.

    Users must use the showers before entering the pool.

    Access is not permitted for individuals with any type of skin or eye disease, or any infectious condition that could be contagious or contaminate the water. Access is also not allowed for individuals wearing bandages or casts.

    Due to the shallow depth of the pool, diving is not allowed.

    Running, pushing, engaging in horseplay, or any activity that may disturb other users in the pool area is not allowed.

    Food and/or beverages in glass containers are not allowed in the pool area. Food and beverages in plastic containers can only be consumed at tables located around the pool.

    Bicycles, tricycles, skates, or skateboards are not allowed in the pool area.

    Electric appliances or bulky toys are not allowed in the pool area. The use of floating mattresses is only allowed when there is enough space in the pool so as not to inconvenience other users.

    Please refrain from littering, chewing gum, tobacco use, spitting, or throwing objects into the pool.

  • These courts are available Monday to Sunday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

    The sports courts do not have a coach or supervisory personnel. Users are responsible for their own safety.

Location

CIMMYT headquarters is located at Km 45 Carretera Mexico-Veracruz, El Batan, Texcoco, State of Mexico, about 45 minutes from the Mexico City airport, and about five minutes from the Netzahuacoyotl statue in Texcoco

FAQ

CIMMYT weather
Texcoco is situated 2,200 m/7, 575 ft above the sea level. Average temperatures range from a low of 51°F to a high of 77°F. The rainy season is June-September. Dress is informal. A sweater and/or jacket for evenings are usually required. An umbrella or light raincoat may be useful.
Venue of the event
The venue of the meetings will take place at the auditorium of CIMMYT headquarters (Tuesday to Thursday). Lunch will be served in the barbecue area during the event from Tuesday to Thursday.
Upon arrival at Mexico

Health Requirements: Mexico has no special vaccination requirements for entry.

On arrival-Immigration and Customs: Bring Doctor’s prescriptions on letterhead for all medications that you have in your luggage other than aspirin or “over the counter” products. Make sure you have well in advance the phytosanitary permits for Mexico in case you are bringing seed, culture, plants, soil or other materials.

Safety measures: A negative COVID-19 test is not required upon entry to the country. However, travelers arriving via air and land borders as well as aircrew members may be subject to health screenings including temperature checks. Those exhibiting symptoms may be subject to additional health screening and/or quarantine.

Immigration and Customs

Kindly note that in the migration review filter, the visitors must present:

  • Passport or current identity and travel document that is valid under international law.
  • The immigration authority may request the foreign person to verify the reason for their trip, through any of the following documents:
  • Hotel reservation
  • Return tickets (itinerary)
  • Letter of invitation
Upon arrival in Mexico City airport

Taxi Service

  • You will have to go to the official taxi kiosk inside the airport, purchase a ticket based on your destination, then exit the Arrivals Hall and present this to your driver.
  • Not all drivers at Mexico City Airport speak English. To avoid any miscommunication, show your driver your destination on Google Maps or write down your hotel’s address, or CIMMYT location.
  • Paying for your Mexico City Airport taxi by credit card or by cash in Mexican Pesos is possible at the kiosk.
  • Please, do not accept help from anybody in the airport to call CIMMYT, nor from public drivers offering ‘free’ services, it is highly advisable to hire official airport transportation at the airport “Yellow Cab Service” is recommended.

Uber Service

Check the Uber app for the nearest pickup Puerta number for the terminal and area that you are at. At T1, that list typically starts at Puerta 7 and 8. Find the most convenient and walk to it, selecting your pickup when you get this the Puerta.

In the app, confirm your Puerta number and your pickup’s details (car make, color, plates, and driver name). You can wait outside at the Puerta (or inside) till the driver arrives. They will pull up to the Puerta number you requested and the app will announce they’ve arrived. You will see the car and driver pulled up to the sidewalk. Identify yourself, confirm the drivers name, and enjoy the trip.

Important information for accommodation in hotels in Texcoco

CIMMYT does not have accommodation capacity for all participants attending the conference, therefore three options of hotels in Texcoco are being offered for your booking upon your preference:

A shuttle service will be offered at each hotel in the morning to proceed to CIMMYT headquarters to attend the venue of the conference. Transportation to return to Texcoco hotels also will be facilitated. Confirmed schedules will be duly informed in advance.

Important information for accommodation at CIMMYT

Standard Check in time is 1 p.m. An additional charge of one night may apply for arrivals before 8 a.m. Early arrivals are allowed after 8 a.m. at no extra cost prior previous notification.

Standard Check-out time is 12 p.m. Extended check-out time is subject to room availability. An additional charge of one night may apply for departures after 3 p.m.

Same day cancellations, no shows and unannounced arrivals will cause a surcharge of one night.

Guests may not extend their stay without advanced notification (24 hours) and approval by Hospitality Area.

Accommodation does not include food service nor laundry service cost. Gym is available at no cost from Monday to Friday 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Weekends and Holidays 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Kindly confirm hours of arrival at least one week prior to the arrivals.

Guests are required to handover their keys to the Housing Coordinator upon departure. If guests lose or do not return the key card a penalty of 2 USD will be charged.

Food Services during the weekend: The Comedor is located in the housing area (pink wall), meals are served during the following schedules:

Saturday and Sunday: Breakfast: 08:00 – 09:30 a.m. Lunch: 12:00 – 2:30 p.m. Diner: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Driver services: CIMMYT drivers are available for airport pick and transfers in the following schedule: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Manner of Payment: CIMMYT accepts cash: US dollars, Mexican pesos, and credit cards (mastercard or visa).

ATM. There is an Automatic Cash Machine (ATM) at CIMMYT at the back of the main building to obtain Mexican pesos, bank fee may be charged.
